The Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2025 is finally here, bringing another round of the annual class-based competition.

First introduced in 2020, this event lets Hunters, Titans, and Warlocks compete against each other to see which class comes out on top. This year, the event runs alongside Heresy Act 2, which launched on March 11th.

While the core idea remains the same—earning points for your class to win the top spot—there are some big changes this time.

The winning class still gets a statue in the Tower for the next year, but a brand-new game mode has also been introduced, called the “Rushdown Mode”.

As such, if you haven’t been active lately, it’s the perfect opportunity to get some Destiny 2 boost to get back in shape. With that said, here’s the complete guide to Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2025!

How To Get Started and Earn Medallions?

When you launch the game, meet with Eva Levante in the Tower. She’ll present you with the Guardian Games Quest “Best in Class” that you have to complete.

How To Get Started and Earn Medallions

The quest steps involve you equipping a Guardian Games Class Item—which is provided to you by Eva Levante—and either finishing a Supremacy match (PvP) or an event playlist activity.

Once you’ve completed the “Best in Class” quest, head back to Eva. Talking to her will unlock your “Medallion Case,” and Eva will also give you a Medallion.

Medallions are the primary currency of the event. The “Case” is what you use to store up to five of each tier of Medallions that you earn during the event.

But what you need to note about the Medallion that Eva just gave you is that you can put it into one of three podiums located directly behind her.

Find your class’s podium and put the Medallion in. This is the primary usage of the Medallions, where each higher tier has a chance to drop high-tier weapons.

Once you deposit your first Medallion, go to the Event Challenges section and redeem the first challenge. This should then enable all the rest of the challenges for the Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2025 event.

With that done, go to Zavala for the “Shoot to Score” quest and to Shaxx for “Vying for Supremacy.” Essentially, these two are the PvE and PvP versions of the event playlists, asking you to achieve a high score.

A threshold in the scores will determine the tier that ranges from Bronze to Platinum. This will allow you to light the torches decorated behind the podium. The torches drop high-tier weapons when lit with higher scores.

Once you’ve completed the vendor quests and lit the torches, you’ll have the opportunity to endlessly farm Medallions through Event Activity completions and Contender Cards. These can then be deposited on the podium to earn rewards.

These activities include Rushdown Standard and Rushdown Expert that can reward you with Medallions depending on your score.

The end chest will also drop an exclusive event weapon. However, using Contender Cards is a straightforward way to earn higher-tier Medallions more efficiently.

All the Contender Cards you see will either be “Platinum” or “Diamond.” It basically shows you the Medallion tier you’ll get upon completion. Note that the Diamond Card is only available once a week and that, too, per account.

What is the New Rushdown Mode?

As per a Bungie’s This Week in Destiny’s post, Rushdown is a new bite-sized boss rush mode that is coming to Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2025 event.

It will challenge players against many of the bosses they’ve encountered in the game’s past campaigns, exotic missions, and seasonal story content. The greater number of bosses players beat, the more challenging Rushdown will be.

Participants will encounter five bosses that they’ve to beat in a single time-limited “run.” This time will be extended for every successful boss defeat, however.

Completing a run will earn participants rewards, and those who complete the Rushdown challenge in less time will get more drops, including top-tier rewards.

Rushdown has three difficulty settings: Warm-up, Standard, and Expert. The Standard and Expert modes feature revive tokens and offer additional encounters with tougher enemies with modifiers.

Players have the option for Standard matchmaking, class-based matchmaking, or creating a private fireteam, when teaming up with fellow guardians.

The quality of rewards will be determined based on two key factors: the number of boss encounters completed and the overall score achieved.

Among many things, quick run times and limited use of revive tokens will greatly boost the chances of scoring higher.

Nevertheless, no matter how challenging a Rushdown gets, if you manage to finish three encounters, you’ll get a guaranteed Guardian Games weapon drop from that run.

Rushdown score thresholds are Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Finishing in the higher tiers in Standard and Expert gives you better chances for extra perks on Guardian Games weapon drops from a run.

In Expert, however, finishing with a perfect score has a chance to drop Guardian Games weapons that are fully Masterworked, with extra perks.

Skimmer

If you missed the opportunity to acquire the limited-time Hoverboard skin from last year, you’ll be pleased to know that the Allstar Vector Skimmer is returning for Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2025.

However, chances to acquire this skimmer (a snowboard-type substitute for your sparrow that allows you to grind in the air) are limited so take advantage of this time while you can.

Yes, you’ll get one during the event, but to have it in your inventory after the event ends, you’ll need to complete the “Drop In” quest.

New Trace Rifle and Returning Weapons

This season’s new weapon is a Keraunios Arc trace rifle. Make sure you grab this from either Rushdown, bounty rewards, or a couple of Crucible games since many of the Episode Heresy artifact perks will enhance this weapon significantly. Besides, you won’t be able to acquire it after the Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2025 event is over.

Weapons returning from the previous event are the Taraxippos scout rifle, The Title SMG, and the Hullabaloo heavy grenade Launcher. Any of these weapons can drop as normal loot in addition to the new trace rifle.

Guardian Games Armour Ornaments

All the past years’ sets will be returned to Eververse for Silver or Bright Dust; however, there’s also a new set for each class for this year as well.

The new sets are:

  • Hunters: Glory of Apollo
  • Titans: Honor of Ares
  • Warlocks: Favor of Athena

In keeping with the godly theme of Olympus, these new sets feature lots of gold accents and Roman styled adornments.

And since these new sets, including the returning ones, are classified as armor ornaments, you can apply their appearance to non-Exotic armor gear items.

The Champ Title and Event Card

You can earn rewards like a new Exotic Emote, Sparrow, Shader, and weapons by completing Event Card challenges.

Players who finish the entire Event Card will also receive The Champ Title. On top of this, you can also unlock additional rewards in the Eververse store by using Event Tickets along with the available upgraded Event Card.
