If you’re hoping to plot multiple locations simultaneously, you’re probably familiar with the issues of using Google Maps. While it’s a default application for many individuals, the capabilities of numerous sites are limited and occasionally frustrating. That’s because Google Maps currently holds a ten-location maximum, allowing users to add individual locations to the mapping functionality until reaching the maximum.

While this limit may seem reasonable for personal use, it’s seldom appropriate for business applications. For example, a delivery company uploading hundreds of addresses will face significant issues trying to use Google. For those requiring multiple locations, it’s often easier to find an outside mapping software to handle your needs.

Maptive is a third-party mapping program that integrates Google Maps while allowing unlimited data points. The software will enable individuals or businesses with large data groups to adapt a Google Maps functionality without the natural limitations.

How to Use Mapping Software to Create a Map With Multiple Points

Users can instantly upload their data through the program’s interface using a third-party program. Most programs allow easy registration, with many programs offering time-limited trials to get a better understanding of how it works, without investing in software that doesn’t work for your business,

To get started, make sure your data is accessible in a spreadsheet. Spreadsheets are the easiest method of importing data, especially using a third-party platform. Both Excel and Google Sheets are available for importing functionality.

Make sure that your content contains at least two columns, with one for addresses and the other for any descriptions. Users will need to mark all categories at the top and ensure all data is complete within the document. Save the document and log into the mapping software.

There are several ways to enter the data with mapping programs, whether you’d like to upload the data automatically, copy and paste the entries, or individually enter the content. Select the Create My First Map function in the mapping software when you’re ready to input the coordinates. Next, give the Map a name and enter a brief description of what the Map contains.

Uploading Multiple Points Automatically

When uploading your address data on mapping software, upload the file through the interface or select the content from your original file. From there, you’ll want to check the imported data. Select the Map Now functionality to generate all locations within your data set. You’ll want to confirm all data synced correctly with automatically matched categories.

Personalization Capabilities

Most third-party mapping software allows the personalization of all mapping data. This personalization includes custom map graphics and markers, stacking or cluster maps, and highlighting elements like waterways, landscapes, and regions.

These mapping functions will vary significantly depending on the software. Carefully evaluate each mapping program to better understand the customization options and how they work for your mapping requirements.

Optimized Routing Options

After uploading the data locations into the mapping program, optimize the route for effortless navigation. To optimize a route, you’ll want to add a specific place to a new or existing route on the Map. Users can optimize the route using real-time Google Maps data, integrating traffic, construction, and other influencing factors into the route optimization. From there, individuals can personalize the ways with color-coding functionality, giving each route its unique color.

How to Upload Multiple Locations with Google Maps

Although Google Maps restricts users’ uploading capabilities, Google Maps do allow ten locations simultaneously. If you’d like to use Google Maps to create multiple points, start by logging into your account. Select the Your Places, Maps and then select the Create Map function to build your Map.

When the new window pops up, give the Map a title and description, and click Save. Users can pinpoint the locations manually by clicking the marker icon and placing it directly on the Map, or they can search for a specific address using the box at the top of the screen.

Users can give the site a name before saving it to the Map if adding the locations manually. When entering the location through the search functionality, a green marker will automatically generate, and users can select Add to Map link on the page. Repeat these steps to add all appropriate locations to the Map. Remember, Google Maps can’t optimize the route, creating directions with every entered address.
